Babs and Fifi are Now A Mommies!

Hi, so I know you have all been waiting for a little while, but Bab's babies finally arrived!! These babies are super fat because their mom spoils them. Average babies are so posed to be fed once a day, but Babs feeds her's 3 times a day, so yeah there bellies look so fat and adorable. I will show you how big they are compared to my other mamma bunny that just had babies too (Her name is Fifi). Did you know that this is Bab's first litter? She is a very aggressive mom because it is her first time having babies.  Fifi is SUPER sweet with her babies and let's us hold them! This is Fifi's 3rd time having babies, so that is why she does not have as big a a selection as Babs does.

                                                                   Cuddle Bugs! (Bab's Babies)

Babs Is Going To Have Babies!

So my New Zealand White is going to have babies!!! She is due today, and she was stashing this morning...

What Is Hay Stashing

Well hay stashing is basically a rabbit making her nest. That is why you always give your rabbit hay if she is going to have babies. So how you know you rabbit is hay stashing? Your doe will take a group of hay and shake her head up and down, then she will go in her nesting box and make a nest.

Sorry this pic is blurry but she is pulling fur.

This is Babs making her nest

I hope we will have some babies soon!!

Why Is My Bunny Sneezing?

I am going to give you some reasons and clues to see if your bunny just has a stuffy nose or a bad case of the snuffles.

1.) The Reason Is Probably Hay
What are hay are you feeding your rabbit? Is she/he sneezing when you give him/her hay? This can cause sneezing because it is a dusty hay.

2.) The Reason Is Probably Snuffles
Check the paws and the nose. If the paws have matted down fur and there is white stuff coming out, than that means your rabbit probably has Snuffles. If this is the reason your rabbit is sneezing then I would suggest getting a VetRX. How to use Vet RX, put 2 drops right next to each nostril (Make sure it goes into the nostril a little bit) and do that once a day.

3.)The Reason Is Probably Allergies
If your rabbit is just randomly sneezing and nothing is coming out, then just keep an eye on your rabbit. it is probably just allergies.

I hope this helped!

Ruby

Hey so, here is one of my Netherland Dwarfs and her name is, Ruby. She is a pink eyed white and is very sweet and loving. Did you know, that Pink Eyed White NDs, can have any other color of ND (Netherland Dwarf)? So she can have Red ND, Gray ND, Black ND, Pin Eyed White ND, and Chestnut ND!! That's a lot of colors! Netherland Dwarfs can only have up to 6 babies per litter. What is A Nesting Box?

A nesting box is a wooden box. A "nesting box" is used for the mother rabbit to have her babies in. We fill it with hay and put it in their cage 3 days before birth. The mother pulls her own fur to make a nest. Sometimes rabbits will have their babies outside of the nesting box, usually they will not survive. This will usually happen if it the first time giving birth. But most births are successful.

Here are some babies in a nest.
That white stuff is fur.

Baby Bunnies!

Hi! So a exactly 1 week ago our female Californian, Snow White gave birth to 4 baby bunnies! There is one that I am hoping will stay alive and that one is the runt, she is MUCH smaller than the other babies so I am a little worried :P. I named her Peanut. The other ones are so fat with milk!! It is so cute:). Snow White is an amazing mother to all 4 of these kits. I will soon post about Snow White herself, but right now it's about all of them! Here are some pictures!

                                                              This is a fat one

Train Your Bunny to Stand

Hi! So I am going to help you to teach your bunny to stand! So this is easier than you think. So your bunny will usually stand on his/her own sometimes. But wouldn't it be nice to have him/her stand on command? So firs of all there has to be something your bunny adores and will do anything for it, Truffle's favorite is oats. If your bunny doesn't have a favorite thing, then try experimenting on different things it would like. So to get started you just want to put him in a Bunny Proofed room.

step 1.) get your bunny's attention. This could take a while if you have a bunny like mine!

step 2.) hold the favorite thing up were he/she could reach it if it would stand.

step 3.) hopefully your bunny is standing up to get it. if not then try again.

step 4.) now try and make your hand a fist and use that instead of the favorite thing. This can take several days to master.

So that's all you do. But please don't get mad if it doesn't work the firs few days. It took Truffles a week to learn this.

This is what your bunny should be doing on step 3

I made my hand into a fist and used it like the oats, then  took it away fast for the picture.

                                                          I hope this helped :)

Ash

Hi there! Ash is a 4 week old male Californian bunny. Ash is very curious and he likes to be held (Although he is very squirmy!) he LOVES eating grass!! Ash is very caring and loyal to his friends and loves to sniff his girlfriend, Hazel in the next cage:). He is going to be a breeding bunny in the future. Here are some pictures!

                                                                     Yummy Grass!

                                                              Just Mow'n The Lawn!

                                                                  Sniff! Sniff! Sniff!

                                                     Sleepy Bunny
weren't those pictures so cute? My favorite is the one that says mow'n the lawn.

How To Bunny Proof Your Room

Hi! Today I am going to show you how to bunny proof your room! So first of all clean your room like you would normally do. Then pick up all of the cords in the room you will be using for your bunny. Usually I will put card board or newspaper on the floor so you don't have any accidents. It your bunny does do his/her business on the floor then use a vinegar spay to clean it up. If he poops on the floor than just use a paper towel to pick it up. Block any place that your bunny can go under with pillows, like under couches, beds, or big chairs. That is all you have to do!

Advice for A New Bunny

Hi! I am going to give you some advice on getting the right bunny.  First of all you want to prepare the home for your new furry friend. Here is a list of things you NEED for a bunny.

1.) A cage, it does not have to be anything special.

2.) Feed. I would suggest an organic brand, but you can do anything you want.

3.) A water bottle, you can find these in almost every feed store

4.) Hay. You don't HAVE to have this, but it is very good for your bunny.

That is all you really NEED for your bunny. Now let's move on to good breeds for a pet.
So here is a list of breeds I suggest but you can choose whatever you want.

Netherland Dwarf

Minnie Lop

Holland Lop

Minnie Rex

Champagne D argent

harlequin

So now that you have picked your rabbit breed, we need to look for the perfect bunny. It took me 1 year to find my bunny. So don't rush! Now I will teach you how to look over the bunny to make sure it is healthy.

1.) Check the eyes. Make sure they are NOT gummy or cloudy it could mean the bunny is blind.

2.) check the nose. If you see ANY white goo coming out of the nose, then it might have a bad sickness called the snuffles.

3.) Ears. If there is crusty brown stuff is the ear, then that means he/she has ear mites. Ear mites is not a bad sickness, but it can get very serious if you don't know how to treat it right.

4.) Teeth. Make sure the top is slightly over the bottom.

5.) Legs/Feet.  A rabbit's legs should stretch out straight and have five toenails on the front feet and four toenails on the back feet.  It is important that your rabbit has all of its toenails if you are going to be showing it.  Also check the bottom of the feet for redness which would indicate sore hocks.  Sometimes this is caused by poor cage sanitation, other times the rabbits feet are being aggravated by the wire floor.  You can help a rabbit with sore hocks by keeping a board in the cage to give it a place to sit off the wire.  This is not as common in Netherland Dwarfs as it is in larger breeds.

6.) Body. The overall body should be clean, smooth and firm.  Feel the body to check for any abcesses and for the build-up of droppings on the underside that could indicate dietary or other problems.

Once you have bought the perfect bunny, you have to choose between these 2 choices. He/She going to be a....

1.) Lap Bunny. You can hold him/her and he/she will sit on your lap.

2.) Run Around Bunny. You bunny is more of a run around bunny and will likely run away from you.

So, if you want her/him to be a Lap Bunny the you would have to pay a lot of attention and holding him/her. But if you want a Run-Around Bunny then you should let it out of the cage and have him/her be in a "Bunny Proofed Room" (I will post about bunny proofing your room soon) . Truffles is kinda both. Which is pretty easy to do. You can hold him/her a little but just let him/her run around a little too.

Now, your bunny is not going to be one of these choices right away. It takes time for your bunny to get used to you.

See ya later

Truffles

Hi there! I am going to talk about my bunny, Truffles! Well, first of all, I want to talk about his personality. He is fast, sweet, crazy, funny, and happy. Truffles like to run around on my bed and he does not like his cage :).  He likes to be pet, so he will nibble you if you don't pet him XD! Right now he is licking his blanket (DON'T ASK ME WHY). Truffles LOVES to be pet, but not as much to be held. He is the cutest little rabbit every! Truffles is unique in a very special way. I wouldn't trade him for the world. He is my little baby:). I love Truffles so much! Here are some pictures of him!

Welcome

Hi! Welcome to my blog!! My blog is about all my 40 rabbits, I mainly own Truffles (My male Netherland dwarf rabbit) and my family and I own the other 39. This blog is going to be about them! I have researched a lot about rabbits - pets and meat.  I have 13 baby bunnies and most of them have names- Ting-Thong-Thang, Strawberry, Silver, Pipsqueak, Vanilla, Violate, Lightning, Lavender, Ash (My BFF named him), and Tabitha. I know, I know, you are probably thinking 'how does she keep track of all these bunnies?' Well actually it is pretty easy. So here's how it works: If it is a female (Girl) then I will mark it on the left ear, but if it is a male (Boy) then I will mark it on the left ear and then I choose a symbol so I can tell them apart. Most of the baby bunnies are named by my friends. I you have ANY questions about rabbit's just tell me! If you want to see a rabbit, then you can comment what their name is and and ask for me to put pictures up!
